The small polar nature of the molecule and the lack of a UV chromatophore complicate the chromatographic and spectrophotometric analysis of GHB. Chemically, GHB is unstable and readily forms Gamma-butyrolactone when heated in acid conditions. Most analytical methods are based upon the interconversion to the lactone and chemical derivatization to form the TMS derivative. This column is for the extraction of free GHB. |

The new THCA column was designed specifically with the THC Δ9 carboxylic acid metabolite in mind. Since this compound is the highest volume analyte extracted from urine for GC/MS confirmation, UCT has worked to develop a faster and cleaner extraction procedure. The extraction procedure eliminates the usual conditioning step and results in a cleaner eluate. This will save time and expense of processing samples. The cleaner samples will result in less instrument downtime for cleaning of the MS source. Overall, the THCA column will be able to streamline a laboratory’s urine extraction for the THC Δ9 carboxylic acid metabolite without a high added cost to the SPE column. |

1. The chromatogram on the right side (THCA) shows a much cleaner spectra in the full scan mode in comparison to the scan on the left side. The THCA and THCA(d-IS) highlighted are apparent. 2. A cleaner sample will enhance analyte sensitivity by eliminating certain matrix effects inherant in urine samples. It will also reduce instrument maintenance. |

CLEAN-THRU® tips provides the first solid phase extraction cartridge system that eliminates sample carry over from the vacuum manifold lid. The technology was pioneered by our research scientists & consists of one of our SPE columns with a disposable tip that attaches to the end of each column. Columns available in the CLEAN-THRU® configuration are found in the CLEAN-SCREEN® sections. This system was designed in order to meet the strict requirements that the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration certification has placed on laboratories to address the problem of cross contamination between samples. CLEAN-THRU® tips provide a completely disposable system that eliminates any contact between the sample, wash solvents and the extraction apparatus. The continuous passage of the sample through the system provides a direct, accurate route to waste or collection vessels. As each extraction is completed, the column and tip are discarded as a unit.
