Alkoxy silanes exhibit reactivity with most surfaces

A little bit goes a long way
1 mole of silane will theoretically cover 7500 (meter2). Approximately 1 gram of PSX1055 will cover 32 (meter2) and 1 gram of PSX1050 will cover 39 (meter2).

Ultra high loading of aldehyde groups that provides a remarkable binding capacity
The aldehyde alkoxy silanes will typically form 3 to 8 molecular layers* on the reacted surface. A very dense crosslinked network of aldehyde functional siloxane groups results, providing extremely high ligand binding and activity. 

Superior to classical techniques
The classical procedure for ligand attachment requires reacting amine functional supports with glutaraldehyde. These techniques are more labor intensive and expensive. Glutaraldehyde is also unstable and difficult to purify. Additionally, the glutaraldehyde and primary amine forms two Schiff bases, with only one formed with the aldehyde silanes coupling. As a result, there is greater stability and less denaturing over time with BIO-CONEXT™.
